It inspires me, moves me, and has transformed me as a person.
In fact, photography taught me to be present in the moment. Furthermore, experience it firsthand rather than merely saying it. to understand what it’s like to watch the sunrise on a chilly winter morning while standing by the road, feeling its warmth cause your hands to stop shivering.
to be rewarded with eye contact from an owl after spending an hour in the sun with your neck twisted until you felt like it would kill you.
To stand on my balcony in the rain (and worry about how much harm I was subjecting my camera to) and experience getting soaked in the rain. I got a fantastic lightning shot, of course.
I also learned via photography to live in the present and not be preoccupied with the outcome. to breathe deeply and without abandon. Being receptive to whatever life presents is another. To have an experience every time I shoot which makes me forget myself, and be a part of something so much bigger than all of us. And it’s something I aspire to reproduce each time I pick my camera.
